Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a deep passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice revolves around various aspects of family-related matters. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement matters including step-parent adoptions as well as private party adoptions, as well as concerns about child welfare. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by a court since the year, assisting parties in helping them settle their disputes without need for litigation and court involvement. In addition to mediations arranged by the court, Ashley also mediates in private cases for people who would prefer to avoid the litigation and court process.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She continued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled academically, placing among the top 10 students in her class. While at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the prestigious Western New England Law Review, showcasing her commitment to legal scholarship and research.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship experience, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate enough to serve as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown Maryland to serve as an attorney for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. As an associate attorney. Her main focus was representing the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters related to child welfare. Ashley's devoted efforts played a significant role in helping children who suffered neglect or abuse at care of their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to tackling social injustice transcended her legal career as she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to raise awareness regarding human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017 she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law including custody, divorce guardianships, child maintenance and divorce and financial and estate planning, wills, trusts, power of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.
Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the intention of providing a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
